FAQ

Where does Mission Meals get food resources?

Resources for our weekly grocery distributions are a combination of donations from community members and groups, as well as products and bulk items purchased by Mission Meals in order to prepare and supplement grocery bags. Resources for hot meals are purchased from our SF Bay Area small business partners: Eterna Primavera Bakery, El Faro SOMA, La Guerrerra’s Kitchen, and El Tacos Precioso.

Who does Mission Meals serve?

We serve a range of community members that include seniors, single-mothers, street vendors, day laborers, trans-latinas, asylum seekers, recent arrivals, and unemployed community members and families who don’t have access to institutional resources in the Mission District and greater Bay Area.

We serve food-insecure community members that have been identified and referred to us by our coalition partners - VisibiliT, Chavalos de Aquí y Allá, CALMA, social workers and local organizers.

Do only SF Mission District residents receive support?

No, we provide direct support to people and families experiencing food-insecurity in the Bay Area. Many of our recipients reside in San Francisco, Daly City, South San Francisco, Richmond, and Antioch.

Are there eligibility requirements needed to receive support?

We believe food-insecurity is not a cookie cutter experience and receiving support shouldn’t be contingent on traditional institutional qualifications that have historically left out community members in need of resources.

How can I connect a food-insecure community member to MMC?

Due to reaching our max capacity, we are not able to onboard additional recipients. We encourage community members to connect with our San Francisco, Peninsula , and East Bay for immediate support.
